Medical Imaging

There are number of imaging departments in hospitals and health-care facilities across PHSA. Learn more about the imaging services available below:

As of January 2024, changes were made to how Lower Mainland Medical Imaging (LMMI) is organized. For the past 13 years, Vancouver Coastal Health oversaw the consolidated operations of diagnostic imaging services within Providence Health Care, Vancouver Coastal Health, Provincial Health Services Authority and Fraser Health. Those services have been returned to the health authorities in which the work is performed.

Provincial Medical Imaging Office

In February 2024, the Provincial Medical Imaging Office (PMIO) was established to improve the planning, coordination, and delivery of medical imaging services across the province of British Columbia. Through a newly formed medical imaging council and supported by specific modality clinical and medical expertise, the PMIO will facilitate system-wide changes in partnership with B.C. health authorities to build a more sustainable, equitable and integrated medical imaging system that improves access and patient care.Learn more
